Collecting African Ceramics
Join Director of Museum Studies Monique Scott and Curator of Art and Artifacts Carrie Robbins in conversation with Wyatt MacGaffey, emeritus professor of anthropology at Haverford, and recent donor to Special Collections.
MacGaffey recently gave a selection of pottery by Mayivangwa Thérèse and Wadimbudula Esther, women potters from Vunda, a village midway between Kinshasa and Matadi in the Kongo Central province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Hear more from MacGaffey, the artists' neighbor in 1970, about this and his forays into curating at the Smithsonian's Museum of African Art.
UUÖ±²¥ welcomes the full participation of all individuals in all aspects of campus life. Should you wish to request a disability-related accommodation for this event, please contact the event sponsor/coordinator. Requests should be made as early as possible.
